While Samsung hasn’t provided any details as to what products will feature, it is widely expected it is set to unveil its Galaxy Note 5 and a new addition to its S6 line in the form of the Galaxy S6 edge plus at the event.
A picture accompanying the invitation features a series of slightly curved lines, apparently suggesting a smartphone with a curved display. The image is slightly similar to an invitation Samsung sent out earlier in the year, which also featured a curved line, before the unveiling of its Galaxy S6 and S6 edge.Both the S6 edge plus and Note 5 could feature 5.7″ screens, adding to Samsung’s phablet line-up. Samsung is currently facing intense competition at both the premium and budget ends of the smartphone market, with recent International Data Corporation (IDC) figures revealing Samsung saw a year-on-year decline in its market share amid a decline in shipment volumes in the 2015 second quarter. As noted by the IDC: “all eyes will now be on the early release of the pending Note 5 and rumoured S6 edge plus”. |
