To the delight of many consumers, Samsung has confirmed a new software update will disable Bixby on its new Galaxy Note 9.

Whilst the Korean giant remains committed to its smart assistant ‘Bixby’, consumers have long complained its functionality trails behind rivals – e.g. Google Assistant.

Contrary to older devices (e.g. Galaxy S9+) the new Note 9 does not allow users to disable the left-hand button which triggers Bixby.

Responding to consumer gripes, Samsung Deutschland claims disability is in the works, with an update set to be released this month.

Aussie consumers will have to wait and see whether the update rolls out down under. In the interim, several third-party apps claim to offer some remedy.
