Sony Australia has expanded its trademark EXTRA BASS headphones with the new ‘WH-XB700’, pledging improved vocal clarity, audio playback plus built-in Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.

The headphones will release locally in April for A$249.95, and follow the launch of Microsoft’s Surface Headphones and Jabra’s Elite 85h – further intensifying over the ear headphone competition.

The WH-XB700 retains many features within former EXTRA BASS headphones, whilst boasting a 30-hour battery life and quick charge functionality.

The headphones claim to offer one a half hours of usage from ten minutes of charge.

With a swivel design, the over-ear headphones are designed to transform and fit into a compact pouch.

Built-in Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa is enhanced via a dedicated custom button on the left earcup, triggering the preferred smart assistant to play favourite tracks and more.

Catering to both Google and Amazon lovers, consumers can choose their favourite smart assistant via the Sony | Headphones Connect app.

Claimed to offer improved vocal clarity, the headphones also pledge excellent hands-free call capabilities.
