Melbourne-based online retailer Kogan.com is gearing up to take on eBay and Amazon with the launch of its new marketplace.

The new marketplace enables third-party businesses to sell their goods direct-to-consumers via Kogan.com, similar to Amazon.com.au, Catch.com.au and eBay.

Many retailers have already joined the marketplace including Microsoft, Breville, Lego, Fisher-Price, Paw Patrol, SodaStream, Gillette, Gucci and Philips.

More than 100,000 products from these sellers are currently live on the platform.

Sellers on the marketplace will gain access to the website’s back end operations, marketing support, payments gateways, and customer support.

Products listed on Kogan Marketplace would be eligible for Kogan.com benefits, including interest-free finance options and the ability to earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points.

The marketplace launch follows disappointing earnings in December.

Shares in Kogan.com (ASX:KGN) closed 1.65 per cent lower to $3.57.
