Japanese air conditioning company Daikin has shunned government programs to attract AI talent and decided to go it alone creating an in-house program that takes new graduates and current employees with no AI background to train with the skills.

The Japanese government unveiled a plan in June to train 250000 people in AI skills annually by 2025.

But Daikin isn’t waiting around for that to happen and aims to make 1000 employees AI-savvy by 2022.

Daikin is hiring engineers from India and China but strugging to find talent in the US.
