ASX-listed datacentre operator 5G Networks is to acquire Australian Pacific Data Centres (APDC), including its Pyrmont datacentre in Sydney, for $3.5 million cash.

According to 5GN, the acquisition will unlock “significant opportunities” for revenue growth, as well as cost savings and operational synergies.

It will lift its datacentre capacity to more than 600 racks across interconnected datacentres in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.

5GN says it will also expand its fibre network to connect clients and other datacentres in the CBD and inner metro areas of Sydney and it will explore the opportunity to offer dark fibre to its larger corporate customers and wholesale partners.
