Investors are betting on gaming platforms as an area of consumer tech with plenty of room left to grow.

Stealth gaming start-up Manticore Games has raised US$45 million in funding from investors, before it has shipped a product.

Manticore says its upcoming product called CORE is a way for gamers with a minimal technical background to build new, custom experiences. Users can build and monetise experiences they create on the platform.
