MELBOURNE: Kmart Australia is looking to embrace augmented reality and artificial intelligence operations to power a system that promises to allow would-be shoppers to view Kmart products in 3D in their homes.

The system is also accompanied by access to a talking “digital  assistant:”  who can hopefully answer likely questions about the products.

“The immersive AR and AI experience was designed to bring joy and inspiration to our customers’ lives, and with extra help from our AI chatbot personality – KBot Assist – we have been able to make shopping easier for customers by sprinkling delight across the customer journey,” Kmart’s digital chief Melissa Wong told ZDnet.

And Oracle regional MD Cherie Ryan said digital assistants and artificial intelligence have reached mainstream adoption and “are providing new and exciting brand experiences to customers.”

She added: “The KBot is a truly innovative experience, seamlessly blending AI and AR to create an engagement that is both fun and functional.”
