ADELAIDE: Tech giant Amazon is opening its doors in Adelaide, with plans for its innovation-focused cloud computing subsidiary to move into the South Australian capital’s Lot Fourteen precinct.

AWS said the group’s new office will include Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Amazon Sciences, a team carrying out world-leading artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) research.

Amazon said it will create more than 50 jobs in South Australia over the next three years, with AWS teams providing support and cloud enablement to local businesses and government agencies.

Meanwhile, the Amazon Sciences team will focus on R&D aimed at enhancing customer experience for Amazon.com customers.

“Our new office in Adelaide demonstrates our ongoing commitment to invest in Australia, and the long-term potential we believe there is for our nation to be a leader in the global digital economy,” says Sarah Bassett, AWS head of South and Western Australia.
