Apple’s Pro Display XDR is getting an upgrade, according to insiders, who claim Apple is internally testing a new external display with a dedicated A13 chip.

According to 9to5Mac, the new display will have a A13 Bionic chip, which was previously seen in the iPhone 11 lineup, and will sport the Neural Engine.

This may be the awaited replacement for Apple’s Thunderbolt Display, which was discontinued in 2016.

The Pro Display XDR was expected to fill this gap, but does not come with its own dedicated GPU, which would allow for high-resolution graphics without putting strain on the computer’s internal chip – a major issue when it comes to high-end gaming.

The codename for this external display is J327, and there is no indicate of how long along the design and production chain this new display is.
