European Union regulators are questioning Google about why they rank certain flights and hotels above other in searches, accusing the company of having “misled” customers.

In particular, the EU are saying Google search results that include prices should also include all fees and taxes that could be calculated in advance.

“EU consumers cannot be misled when using search engines to plan their holidays,” EU Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders said. “We need to empower consumers to make their choices based on transparent and unbiased information.”

Google has been given two months to amend this, to which it agrees.

“We welcome this dialogue, and are working closely with consumer protection agencies and the European Commission to see how we can make improvements that will be good for our users and provide even more transparency,” the company said in a statement.
