Possibly inspired by the recent Olympics, the latest firmware update for the PS5 sees some games run faster on the console.

Sure, at one to three per cent it’s only slightly faster, but it’s still going to make hardcore gamers grin.

Tests run by Digital Foundry compared performance in Control Ultimate and Devil May Care 5 Special Edition against the old firmware revealed an extra one to two frames per second difference.

That’s the sort of increase elite athletes train years for, and the performance improvement was seen in both the 1000 series launch model and the revised 1100 model.
