The tech company’s CEO Brian Krzanich has reiterated Intel’s ambitions concerning the emerging smart car market at Fortune’s Brainstorm Tech Conference earlier this week.

According to him, “[If you’re] going for cellphone business you’re shooting behind the puck.”

Throughout his speech, Krzanich highlighted the promise of connected and self-driving cars.

He also emphasised the gargantuan movement of data involved in these technologies and suggested smart cars will act as the next major growth area for tech after the maturation of smartphones.

He says the Intel will be looking to take advantage of this, working with “great people from the car industry.”
