Panasonic will be bringing a new premium handheld 4K camcorder to market called HC-X1.

Pitched as a tool designed for “working professionals looking to create stunning 4K video content,” it can record video in every resolution from Full HD to 4K Ultra HD.

The camcorder also features a 1-inch MOS sensor and 20x zoom lens, which Panasonic promise will provide “outstanding image quality and flexibility for excellent results whatever the shooting situation.”

According to Panasonic senior product manage Doug Campbell, “This camcorder combines the superior imaging and editing flexibility of 4K with high mobility and operational ease to meet professional demands.”

It’s equipped with two XLR audio input channels with “switchable +48V phantom power and manual volume controls, allowing the use of professional microphones to record high-quality sound in either 16-bit linear PCM when shooting MOV/MP4 video, or Dolby Digital audio when shooting AVCHD video.”

The product is also rigged up to get the most out of its dual SD card slots, allowing additional freedom. Users will be able to configure the HC-X1 to record to one or both SD cards at any time, in different formats and even hot-swapping them to enable for a continuous stream of video content.

The HC-X1 will be available for Australian customers in December. Pricing details to be announced.
