The adoption of Google’s latest version of Android among smartphone users has doubled since February.

According to new data released by Google, Nougat now accounts for approximately 2.8% of total active Android devices.

A significant growth on the 1.1% recorded last month, the data demonstrates a solid migration by Android users towards the new OS in the wake of major vendors like Sony and Motorola rolling out the update to their biggest products during February.

Marshmallow users also continued to grow (0.6%) while almost every other version of Android continued to experience a similar but marginal decline in size of a few percentage points.

Curiously, the numbers for Gingerbread and Ice Cream users remained static for the second month in a row.

Expect these trends to continue as Nougat becomes the norm for most major Android vendors.
