Stan has added support for 4K Ultra HD video on its streaming platform as part of a more expensive ‘Premium’ tier.

4K Ultra HD content is available for an additional $5 a month on top of $10 for Stan’s normal offering. Like Netflix’s $14.99 Ultra HD plan, streaming is supported on up to four devices simultaneously.

As announced in February, the launch of 4K was planned to coincide with the latest season of the Stan’s exclusive TV show Better Call Saul. Initially, 4K Ultra HD content will be somewhat limited compared to Netflix.

Nine shows on Stan currently support 4K, including Breaking Bad and the streaming service’s original show Wolf Creek. It remains unclear what movies (if any) will support 4K in the future.

Existing Stan customers can try out the Premium Plan free for 30 days before being charged an extra $5 a month, while new customers can also try out the plan for 30 days before being charged $15 a month.
