Facebook is reportedly on the verge of launching around two dozen original TV-style programs, possibly in mid-June.

The social networking giant has been looking for shows in two categories, sources say: a high-end level for longer, big-budget shows that could translate onto television; and a secondary level for shorter, less expensive shows of about five to 10 minutes that would refresh every 24 hours.

Facebook is banking on the offerings generating a more hands-on role in controlling the content that appears on its nearly 2 billion member site.
