Owners of both a Samsung smartphone or tablet and a Windows 10 PC now have a new way to sign in to their computer.

An update to the Samsung Flow app allows smartphones like the Galaxy S8, S7 and S6, to be used to securely login to a PC. Tablets like the Galaxy Tab S3 are also compatible.

The app uses the device’s fingerprint reader for authentication using Windows Hello, a feature of the recent Windows 10 Creators Update that replaces the need for a password when logging in.

Most PCs with a fingerprint reader, including Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book, already support Windows Hello when running the latest version of the Windows 10 Creators Update, but the new functionality enables fingerprint login on a much wider range of PCs.

The Samsung Flow app is available now for Samsung smartphones running Android Marshmallow or newer and Android tablets running Android Nougat or newer. More information can be found on the Samsung Flow Google Play page.
