Australia has slipped from 11th to seventh spot in the world’s ranking of committed cyber security countries for 2017.

The United Nations International Telecommunications Union’s (ITU) global cyber security index (GCI) showed that, while Australia scored highly for legal, technical, organisational, and capacity building capabilities, its ranking fell four places since the first GCI report in 2014.

Australia ranked the lowest of the top 10 cyber-savvy nations for “co-operation”.

The ITU gave credit, however, to Australia for its Council of Registered Ethical Security Testers (CREST) infosec skills accreditation program.
