Amazon has thrown down the gauntlet this Christmas, by announcing its recently unveiled ‘Fire TV Stick (Basic Edition)’ is available to purchase on Amazon Australia for A$69.

Amazon’s new Fire TV Stick (Basic Edition) is a “streaming media player” which provides users easy access to a plethora of TV shows, movies, games and apps, from the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

Australian consumers who are members of Amazon Prime Video can watch hit ‘Prime Originals’ such as The Grand Tour, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Mozart in the Jungle.

Amazon’s Fire TV Stick (Basic Edition) incorporates a quad-core processor, 1GB of memory, 8GB of storage, with 802.11ac Wi-Fi and High Efficiency Video Codec (HEVC) support for robust 1080p HD streaming.

The device connects to users’ TVs via a HDMI port – offering quick streaming after logging in with an individual’s Amazon credentials.

Just like Amazon’s suite of Kindle e-readers, the Fire TV stick comes with free delivery within Australia.

Market commentators speculate the item will be a hot favourite this Christmas.
