Following its successful IPO last week, Spotify has announced a major press event on April 24th – providing no further information, commentators speculate the streaming giant could unveil an in-car music player.

As previously reported Spotify is working on its first suite of hardware devices, and has actively been testing voice control.

Consensus is, the in-car streaming player will enable users to search music using their voice.

As revealed by The Vergein February several users received a one-year US$12.99 music subscription, which included a new car device.

Others reportedly received offers with built-in 4G mobile data, prompting rumours the in-car player can control music and playback tunes independently.

The promos in question have since disappeared, however, users continue to mention the device in Spotify’s online support forums.

Consumers will have to hold their breath until April 24th for further information.
