Product Safety Australia has issued a recall of Panasonic Toughbook Laptops [CF-AX, CF-C2, CF-SX], following a “software configuration” fault, which could cause battery packs to discharge and “potentially overheat”.

The consumer watchdog warns overheating battery packs pose a potential fire hazard.

Affected Panasonic Toughbooks were sold nationally between April 2013 and March 2016.

Consumers are advised to change their laptop battery settings to ‘Eco Mode’, with further information available here.

Panasonic asserts it will release new “battery charging configuration software” for the laptops on June 12th 2018.
