Product Safety Australia has recalled free AGL-branded promotional wireless chargers, citing the risk of overheating and fire damage.

Consumers are urged to cease using the wireless smartphone chargers immediately, and unplug from wall outlets.

Two different versions have been recalled – one with an LED light around the edge, the other without – both distributed to guests of Melbourne Victory promotional events, organised by MAX Events.

The first was offered to guests of the ‘Victory in Business’ events during October 2018 to May 2019, alongside the ‘Chairman’s Function’ in December last year.

Consumers are asked to contact AGL to register contact information, with the company supplying a reply-paid satchel to facilitate the return of the charger and USB cable.

Upon receipt, AGL will send out users a $20 EFTPOS gift card.
