Alcatel have announced a new budget 4G smartphone available exclusively through Boost Mobile.

The Boost DEX will retail for only $99, and features a 5-inch display and a 1.0GHz quad-core processor. Targeting the “budget conscious youth market”, the device also packs in high quality audio features using optimised Arkamys enhanced sound and DJ software that will let users hit the ‘DEX’.

“It’s a great statement piece for those looking [for] a smartphone that delivers customisable style and fantastic audio, especially those looking for a true alternative to be the envy of their friends this summer,” said Sam Skontos, VP and Managing Director of Alcatel, ANZ, Singapore and Pacific.

Customisation is a key feature of the Boost DEX, which has interchangeable coloured black, green and orange covers. A pair of high-quality Alcatel headphones are also included.

The DEX runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0, and has a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera and 2 megapixel front-facing camera. The 8GB of internal memory is expandable by up to 32GB via SD card. The device is capable of up to 11 hours of 3G talk-time and up to 440 hours on standby according to Alcatel.

The Boost DEX is available now at Boost.com.au and from retailers including Big W, Kmart and Target.
