Amazon’s Echo smart speakers have faced problems with connectivity in Britain and some other European countries but are now up and running, according to outage tracker Downdetector.

Hundreds of reports about the issue were logged by the outage tracker. The speakers are powered by Amazon’s voice-controlled assistant “Alexa”.

The outage raised concerns about Alexa’s security – crucial to Amazon, which has ambitions for Alexa to be pretty-much ubiquitous, from playing music or placing orders with the world’s largest online retailer.
