Amazon’s first Black Friday event and the subsequent weekend was a big success with Cyber Monday being dubbed the “single biggest shopping day in the company’s history”.

Black Friday also broke records this year with customers both here and abroad ordering millions more products on Black Friday this year than they did in 2017 on the same day — no definite figures were provided.

According to Amazon, sales by small and medium-sized businesses worldwide grew by more than 20 per cent on Black Friday year-over-year.

The best-selling products on Amazon.com.au on Black Friday and Cyber Monday included the Echo Dot (which was the #1 selling product globally on Amazon in any category), Nintendo Switch, and Bose QuietComfort 35 (Series II) wireless Bluetooth headphones.

Marvel’s Spider-Man was unsurprisingly the best-selling video game, and customers ordered more than four million toys and electronics on the mobile app on Black Friday.

“Black Friday and Cyber Monday continue to break records on Amazon year over year, which tells us that customers love shopping for deals to kick off the holiday shopping season,” stated Jeff Wilke, CEO Worldwide Consumer.

In fact, many items are still sitting at their sale price — including the Echo Dot on the international site — so cunning consumers can still take advantage of the sales.
