Numbers out of Worldpanel ComTech has revealed that Android’s market share in Australia rose to 58.2% in the last year.

Android users made up 54.5% of the market in 2015.

In comparison, Apple’s iOS made up 37.1% of users, with the iPhone 5s, 6s and 7 holding the three of the top positions when it came to the most popular models.

Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge following shortly behind Apple’s flagship, taking the third and fourth positions respectively.

Curiously, Microsoft’s Windows phone managed to hold onto 7.4% of mobile phone market share.

The numbers come in the wake of a similar report out of Strategy Analytics which claimed Android handsets made up 88 per cent of all mobile shipments in Q3.
