SYDNEY: Wesfarmers-owned Kmart is the first Australian retail group to deploy an Android Voice-based system that is claimed to guide store and online workers on how to best fulfil product orders.
It is said to have made a large-scale deployment of Cohesio’s Android Voice systems, following a trial of the technology in four distribution centres. The system is said to guide workers through the best ways of performing everything from picking to packaging and delivery.
Users are no longer required to spend time looking at picking slips but can instead listen to order details while they continue to pick and pack.
Ultimate benefits are said to include worker productivity gains, and error, safety incident and training time reductions.
More such deals appear to be on the way. Wesfarmers recently said that it would convert a number of Target stores to Kmart stores, in recognition of continued strong growth across the Kmart brand.
