Apple is asking developers to position a new “Sign on with Apple” button in iPhone and iPad apps above rival buttons from Google and Facebook.

Apple wants prime placement because users often select the top option on apps. Apple will require app developers to offer its button at the top of the list, if they want to include log-ins with Facebook or Google.

Apple unveiled its log-in button at this week’s Worldwide Developer Conference, saying it gives users a more private option and developers a way to offer a fast one-step log-in without sending data to another company.
