A prototype image of the Apple Watch Series 3 reveals a possible Smart Connector on the device.
In past incarnations, the connection port has been hidden; this prototype indicated the presence of two other non-hidden ports, similar to the Smart Connector on iPads.
Apple might have experimented on some “smart bands” in earlier revisions of Apple Watch S3.
On this prototype unit, two unusual pads are exposed to the band, as a sort of “Smart Connector” we’ve already seen on iPads.#AppleCollection #AppleWatch pic.twitter.com/uVFZHuvuAe

Consider the company has revealed its plans for blood pressure monitoring and features for diabetics, this Smart Controller could be the first step towards this.
Apple Watch Series 7 is due to be released this year – whether or not this feature will be part of this generation is unknown. Apple has previously indicated that blood monitoring is still a few years away.
