German appliance manufacturer, Bosch, has unveiled one of CES 2019’s most innovative devices – an interactive “projection module” which transforms any surface (e.g. shelves) into a virtual touchscreen e.g. aiding outfit selection, laundry planning and online shopping.

Smaller than a credit card (47 mm x 43 mm), Bosch claims manufacturers can integrate the module into virtually any new or existing smart home appliance, in a significantly simpler manner.

The ready-to-use device combines projection and interactivity in one small package, and will launch in the second quarter of 2020.

Bosch plans to release both a touch screen and projection module (BML100PI) and just a projection only version (BML100P).

CEO of Bosch Sensortec, Dr. Stefan Finkbeiner, asserts the product welcome the new era of smart home solutions, transforming any “regular shelf” into a personal assistant:

“With this Interactive Projection Module any regular shelf can easily be transformed into a personal assistant for the user, greatly enhancing the level of convenience in people’s daily lives.”
