Drone manufacturer, DJI, has released its new single-handed stabiliser for mirrorless cameras – the Ronin-S Compact (SC) from A$569.

The 3-axis gimbal harnesses over a decade’s experience in aerial and handheld camera tech, for a compact high-tech product.

Unveiled at the Media + Entertainment Tech Expo (METexpo) at ICC Sydney, the product claims to incorporate the most “powerful technology” in the Ronin S line-up, but in a smaller and lighter form factor.

“Now users can pair their mirrorless system with a stabliser that is easier to transport, easier to set up, easier to use yet still equipped with high-performance features and technology,” adds DJI Senior Manager, Paul Pan.

The Ronin-SC is available to purchase from authorised local retailers and DJI online, costing A$569 or A$709 for the Ronin-SC Pro Combo (includes a focus wheel, external focus motor and remote start stop splitter).

The product pledges to be 41% lighter than the Ronin-S, and can be easily taken apart to fit into backpacks and cases.

Powerful high-grade motors are capable of supporting up to 4.4 lbs, with a dedicated battery offering up to 11 hours of operation.

As an upgrade to the Ronin-S, the Ronin-SC includes 3 axis locks on the pan, plus tilt and roll axis for simplified camera balance.

The device also features a new position lock system, with the time take to remount a camera once the gimbal is mounted achieved in “mere seconds.”
