In Q2 Dropbox saw its slowest growth in paid users since going public in 2018 and was unable to attract more paid users with its try-to-buy freemium offer.

The file hosting service saw the number of paying users rise to 13.6 million from 11.9 million a year ago with average revenue per user of US$120.8.

The company’s net loss widened to $21.4 million from $4.1 million a year earlier and revenue of $401.5 million.

The company is banking on a redesign of the Dropbox service launched in June as a growth area in the next quarter.
