Australian consumers should see improved phone and Internet services at affordable prices following reforms to telecommunications carrier powers and immunities Comms Minister Mitch FiField has said.

“Industry analysis has estimated that reforms to carrier powers and immunities will deliver economic and productivity benefits to consumers worth tens of millions of dollars per year as well as providing regulatory cost savings for industry and consumers” Fifield said announcing the move in Canberra.

He said the changes to powers and immunities regulations would allow telcos to install and maintain network infrastructure luding pillars and antennas “quickly and cost-effectively”.
