Foxtel, jointly owned by Telstra and Rupert Murdoch’s News Group, has begun offering National Broadband Network services – though at this stage only to fibre-to-the-premises (FttP) customers, a service now being increasingly downplayed by NBN Co in favour of fibre-to-the-node (FttN).

“NBN services will strengthen Foxtel’s commitment to deliver high-quality, reliable streaming of its Internet-delivered services across iQ3, Foxtel Go, Foxtel’s on-demand programming and other popular video steaming, social media and gaming applications,” Foxtel said.

Added Foxtel exec Andrew Lorken: “When our customers couple Foxtel’s premium movies, TV shows and sport with our unlimited broadband bundles they will receive their content on broadband that is purpose-built for entertainment.

“We think this truly differentiates Foxtel from other broadband providers in an increasingly competitive market.”

Prices for newcomers start at $111 a month . Existing  subscribers can add an unlimited broadband bundle from an extra $85 a month.
