Pakistan’s Punjab government has confirmed reports it will be blocking the mobile service of those who refuse to get vaccinated for COVID-19.

“Mobile SIMs of people not getting vaccinated may be blocked, it was decided in Cabinet meeting under the chair of Minister for Health Dr. Yasmin Rashid at Civil Secretariat,” the Punjab government announced in a tweet.

There have been close to a million confirmed cases across Pakistan since the beginning of COVID-19, with 344,000 in Punjab alone.

There are 677 vaccination centres currently operating across the city, and vaccination is open to all citizens over 18.
