After being revealed late last year the Google Max launch date and pricing for Australia has finally been released.

The chunky smart speaker will be available from August 9 with the price tag of $549.

This speaker will be competing with the likes of the JBL Link 300, the Apple HomePod and of course the Amazon Echo Plus.

The Google Home Max is the biggest in the Google Home range, with the company claiming its sound is 20 times louder than the Google Home.

The smart speaker incorporates two 0.7-inch tweeters and two 4.5-inch high excursion woofers, and automatically optimises sound quality according to its position in a room.

It comes in either charcoal or grey tones.

The speaker will be available online and in-store at the usual retailers.
