SHANGHAI: Huawei is sacking 10 percent of its poorest performing supervisors in what appears to be a major shake-up of the Chinese tech giant.

The official Communist Chinese newspaper, The Global Times, said Huawei’s founder and CEO, Ren Zhengfei, told staff that supervisors graded as the poorest performing 10 percent will be compulsorily eliminated every year.

He noted that it is only through this approach that “new blood” can circulate within the firm.

Ren said positions in Huawei will be divided into three categories: specialised staff, experts and management.

The specialised staff category, also labelled as professional post, will have no age limit, while experts must quickly adapt to social changes.
