Acer have launched a new addition to their Chromebook lineup in the form the R13.

Positioned as a bigger brother to the Acer R11, the R13 touts a  13-inch 1080p IPS display with 10-point touch capabilities and a foldable design that lets it stand on its own as a tablet-like device.

It’s the first Chromebooks to boast a 2-in-1-inspired design, which should make it ideal for use with the millions of Android Apps now compatible for use with Chrome OS.

Meanwhile, under the hood, the R13 touts a MediaTek quad-core processor and 4GBs of RAM – ensuring the machine wrings the best performance it can out of Chrome OS.

The R13 charges using a USB-C port and promises 12 hours of battery life on a single charge.

There are three variants available with internal storage capacities of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB respectively.

It also features a built-in 720p webcam.

The R13 is said to start shipping to American customers in October at an RRP of $399 for the 16GB model.

Australian availability and pricing has yet to be confirmed.
