Intel says it’s developed new power management technology for mobile displays that can cut battery consumption in half.

Details about how Intel’s Low Power Display system works were scarce, but it said the technology was developed in conjunction with panel makers Sharp and Innolux.

Intel demonstrated the system using a Dell XPS 13 laptop fitted with the new low-power display. The company claims the battery life improvement on that machine can be between four and eight hours.
