SAN FRANCISCO: US chip-making giant Intel has unveiled a new method for making transistors on semiconductors. It says the new process could boost the performance of its next round of processors by as much as 20 percent.

Intel said it involves what it calls “SuperFin” transistors, which, along with a new material to improve capacitors, are expected to boost performance on its 10-nanometre chips.
