Leading chipmaker Intel has unveiled laptop versions of its top-end Core i9 processors, which make use of the chipmaker’s eighth-generation Coffee Lake architecture.

The Intel Core i9-8950HK comes sporting six cores and 12 threads and can hit clock speeds of up to 4.8GHz when boosted.

Intel is promising a 29 percent hike in overall boosted speeds from its previous seventh-generation chips. This translates into a 59 percent boost in 4K video editing and a 41 percent improvement in gaming performance, the company claims.

Alongside the new Core i9 chip, Intel also revealed eighth-generation Core i5 and Core i7 chips for laptops, which also make use of the enhanced 14nm fabrication process that underpins the Coffee Lake architecture.
