Apple’s plans to make its own chips for the Mac series will see Intel’s Notebook CPU market share tumble to new lows in 2022, before falling even further the following year.

Apple announced in 2020 that it has a two-year plan to transition away from Intel processors to its own in-house processors.

Four of its Macs use the in-house M1 chip so far, with any newly-announced desktops and laptops expected to use Apple chips.

Intel will lose 50 per cent of its orders from Apple in 2021 alone, with the eventual loss of all business from Apple resulting in Intel’s market share falling below 80 per cent by 2023, according to DigiTimes.

AMD is expected to maintain its 10 per cent share.
