Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has offered a strong “yes”, when posed with the question of whether there should be a Royal Commission into the “NBN debacle”.

Mr Rudd affirmed that the the “cost to taxpayers” associated with the NBN “has been beyond belief”, and attributed a large portion of the blame to former and current Prime Ministers, Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull.

The former-PM’s comments take place during a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything), implied to be part of the promotion of his new book.

When questioned on the coinciding timing of his NBN-related comments, with the release of his new book, Rudd’s offered his rebuttal:

Whilst recent media junkets surrounding his new publication have been comparatively lighter, a good focus of the recent Reddit AMA did surround the National Broadband Network (NBN).
