LG Display has reportedly inked a deal with Apple, to supply OLED and LCD screens in next-generation iPhones during the second half of this year.

According to Korean news outlet NewspimLG is forecast to ship 3.4 million OLED panels and 20 million LCD smartphone panels to Apple in the year.

The Korean display giant is also tipped to secure the majority of Apple’s 6.5-inch OLED panel orders in 2019 – thereby lifting its OLED panel shipments to around 10 million in the year.

LG Display’s Apple contract is said provide a much needed financial boost, with the company reportedly posting a net loss of KRW98.3 billion (US$87.04 million) in Q1Y18, and forecast losses of KRW196.8 billion in Q2.
