HMD Global has announced local availability for the Nokia 8.1, set to hit JB Hi-Fi and Officeworks on 21 February for RRP $699.

Named best mid-ranger by GSMArena for 2018, the Nokia 8.1 is a bit of a misnomer as it is not a follow-up to the flagship Nokia 8 or Nokia 8 Sirocco, it was actually released as the X7 in China back in October 2018.

The handset runs Android 9 Pie, powered by a 3500mAh battery with 4GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage, expandable up to 400GB (microSD).

Its 6.18-inch FHD+ LCD display features the HDR PureDisplay tech found in the previous Nokia 7.1.

The Nokia 8.1 is slated to hit shelves in JB Hi-Fi and Officeworks on 21 February for $699 RRP, in either Blue/Silver and Steel/Copper finishes.
