Netflix has announced the acquisition of gaming developer Night School, who is responsible for the popular paranormal thriller game, Oxenfree.

Netflix explains that Nigh School’sv”artistic excellence and proven track record make them invaluable partners as we build out the creative capabilities and library of Netflix games together”.

Night School co-founder Sean Krankel wrote of the “surreal honour” in a blog post.

“Netflix gives film, TV, and now game makers an unprecedented canvas to create and deliver excellent entertainment to millions of people,” he wrote.

“There’s a kaleidoscope of butterflies in our team’s collective stomachs.”

Netflix is already testing two Stranger Things games, with Polish Android users the first in the world to test-run these games.

Facebook’s Mike Verdu has been tapped to lead its gaming team.
