The official Blackberry Twitter account has given followers a glimpse of the company’s first new handset, believed to be named Mercury, earlier today, confirming the device will make its big debut at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Reports say that the Mercury will feature a 4.5-inch display, a Snapdragon 625 processor, 3GB RAM and will run on Android 7.0 Nougat.

Unfortunately for the Blackberry social team, the post didn’t exactly go viral.

As of writing, it’s only racked up 58 retweets and 71 favorites from users. An ominous sign for the once-venerable brand’s return to the market.

As tipped by ChannelNews back at CES, it will feature what Blackberry claim is the world’s most advanced intelligent keyboard and high-gloss polished keys mimic the finish of the display glass.

The animated image posted by Blackberry’s social team this morning seems show off this clean, consistent and polished look the company are hoping will win back former-users.

ChannelNews believes that the new devices could be on sale in Australia as early as March 2017.
