In the wake of the Japanese games company tweeting out a promise to debut a short video preview of its next videogame system, code-named “NX,” the company’s stock has risen 3.6%.

“Be among the first to discover #NX. Watch the Preview Trailer at 7am PT/10am ET!,” the tweet read.

Expectations are high for Nintendo, who have made a number of strong moves this year – from their partnership with Apple and the launch of Pokemon Go – but there are still many unknowns.

Previous rumours have suggested the NX will feature everything and anything from VR to an on-board camera capable of support augmented reality experiences. However, the one consistent element to a lot of these leaks has been that the console will unify Nintendo’s handheld and home gaming experiences into a single hybrid device.

It’s expected that the reveal of the console will come with news of new iterations of Nintendo’s popular software franchises – including Mario, Zelda and Metroid.
