Flat panel display makers have begun to increase production of full HD (FHD) panels, which could become mainstream in notebook PCs within three years, according to market research firm IHS.

The shift to FHD panels comes amid a prolonged decline in PC sales. Faced with the declining profitability of HD notebook PC panels, panel makers have decreased production of them in favor of panels capable of FHD and even ultra HD  resolution.
